Field Operations Bureau

The Grand Prairie Police Department's Field Operations divisions are responsible for the majority of uniformed police services.

This bureau handles initial response to calls for service and includes Patrol, SWAT, K-9 and Communications.

Communications (911)

The city of Grand Prairie's communications staff are 9-1-1 dispatchers who answer calls 24/7, dispatching help for emergency situations ranging from house fires and automobile accidents to heart attacks and robberies. A team of nearly 40 employees work closely with both Police and Fire, communicating essential information to them as they respond to various emergency situations. Police Patrol

Patrol is the "backbone" of the Police Department and is the department's largest organization. All Grand Prairie police officers begin their police career in the patrol division.

Patrol officers provide initial response to calls for service and are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. They are courteous professionals who are committed to the department's community oriented policing philosophy. These are the officers you see patrolling your neighborhoods and businesses. They are the "thin blue line" that separates decent hardworking citizens from criminal predators. Learn more about a career as a Patrol Officer.
