Grand Prairie Hire an Officer

The Grand Prairie Police Department permits its officers to work secondary, law enforcement-related jobs during their off-duty hours. However, these off-duty jobs must be scheduled through the Grand Prairie Police Department and must take place within the city limits of Grand Prairie.

The Department assists individuals and businesses in hiring off-duty officers to provide a visible police presence for increased safety and security. All off-duty assignments must receive prior approval from the Grand Prairie Police Department.

To streamline the request and management process, the Department has partnered with RollKall, a platform that facilitates the hiring of off-duty officers. RollKall manages all payment processing and provides access to $1 million in general liability insurance per incident to both the client and the officer.

Secondary employment is not permitted for:

  • Any security business that falls under the authority of the Texas Private Security Board, whether or not the business is currently licensed.
  • Any business where the sale of intoxicating beverages for on-site consumption is the primary source of income.
  • Security-related employment outside the corporate city limits of Grand Prairie.
  • Any business holding a sexually oriented business license.
  • Employment deemed unsuitable by the Chief of Police.

Total Hourly Rates (Minimum 3 Hours Per Officer) - includes 11.5% service fee. Fee includes general liability coverage and all W-9 and 1099 tax documentation.

  • Supervisor * - A supervisor will be required when five or more officers are employed.
  • Holiday Rate ** - The holiday rate will apply to New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday), Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
  • Police Vehicle Fee *** - If approved based on vehicle availability.
