It was another big show of support by dozens of men women boys and girls at Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen’s Back the Blue Cyclin’ with the Mayor bike ride at Loyd Park on Joe Pool lake on July 21, 2022.

Now in its 8th year, the mayor’s cycling series is part of the city’s Get Fit GP campaign that promotes fitness, fellowship and family fun. The annual July ride that specifically recognizes the police and law enforcement was initiated by Jensen in 2016 following the mass shooting in downtown Dallas on July 7th of that year that claimed the lives of five police officers.

Participants are encouraged to wear blue, and everyone gets a commemorative Back the Blue t-shirt as a sign of support for those who serve and protect us every day and as remembrance for those who have given their lives doing just that.

Despite the oppressive triple digit heat, another big turnout left no doubt about what the Grand Prairie community things about its men and women in blue.
