Service with a smile and giving back was the theme again for what has become a very special and popular event at Grand Prairie's Texas Roadhouse restaurant.

Once again this year, officers and personnel from the Grand Prairie Police Department and its Police Academy showed up in force – volunteering to help restaurant staff and mingle with customers during the annual Tip a Cop campaign. It’s the one night each year that they all have the okay to accept tips from the public because every dollar they collect goes to the people and athletes at Special Olympics Texas.

Tip a Cop events like this one are being staged at more than 60 Texas Roadhouse restaurants all over the state and nationwide it’s estimated that more than 100 thousand law enforcement officers participate every year.

This year's Grand Prairie Tip a Cop event raised over 37 hundred dollars for Special Olympics Texas.  If you'd like to help or for more information, go to visit the Special Olympics Texas website.
